Because St. Francis High School’s standards are high, as are yours, we take great care in the selection of new students. We seek young men and women from families who share the mission of our school. Entrance Exam & Application Details – 9th Grade

Class of 2028 Entrance Exam Registration & Application Process

In order to assess a student’s potential for success in the curricular and co-curricular educational programs, the application process includes four parts:

  • Online application
  • High School Placement Test (HSPT)
  • 7th grade report card
  • Teacher recommendations
  • IEP/504, if applicable

 

Online Application

Step 1: Complete your pre-application Inquiry Form to create a mySFHS account.

Step 2: Once the SFHS IT Department processes your inquiry, you will receive an invitation from our portal provider (Blackbaud) to finish setting up your account. Please accept the invitation to access the mySFHS Portal.

Step 3: Complete your application (including $35 application fee) to SFHS through the mySFHS Portal. The Online Application includes extracurricular interests and demographic information.

 

The High School Placement Test (HSPT)

The HSPT is an entrance exam SFHS requires as part of the application process for all 8th grade applicants. Students interested in taking the HSPT register to take the exam as part of the online application (there is no additional registration necessary).

Other Information:
Only students who take the HSPT at St. Francis High School on the original test date (12/2/23), or the official make-up date (12/12/23), and complete all other components of the application by the December deadline are eligible for SFHS scholarships.

 

Report Card

SFHS requires students submit a copy of their 7th grade report card. The report card must be uploaded to your mySFHS portal.

 

Teacher Recommendations

The recommendation form is sent and received school-to-school. Applicants do not need to submit any recommendation forms and/or letters.

Candidates should have positive recommendations that show diligence, responsibility, curiosity, attendance, and respect in and out of the classroom.

 

IEP/504, if applicable

SFHS can support students who need limited accommodations to be successful in a college preparatory high school. Students with diagnosed learning differences have been successful in all academic levels offered at SFHS.

SFHS offers extended time as an accommodation on the HSPT. To be eligible for accommodations, a student must have been identified as having a need and have a formal written plan (IEP, ISP, 504 Plan, or Accommodation Plan) at his/her grade school. Documentation must be submitted electronically to the mySFHS portal for consideration of accommodations for the Entrance Exam by November 30, 2023.

 

Affordability

The tuition assistance application will be available late-October 2023 and is due March 1, 2024. To be considered for tuition assistance, a student must be registered as an SFHS student. To be considered for SFHS scholarships, a student must take the Entrance Exam at St. Francis High School. Please visit our Tuition Assistance page for more information.

  • Transfer Application Process

    The application is available for students entering 9th (Class of 2027), 10th, or 11th grade. The Admissions Committee typically admits transfer students with a solid A/B average in their academic courses and who score in the 50th percentile or above on the most recent standardized test. In order to assess a student’s potential for success in the curricular and co-curricular educational programs, the application process includes seven parts:
    • Online application
    • Standardized test score report (most recent)
    • High school transcript
    • Current report card/grades in progress
    • Parent statement
    • Student statement
    • List of Student Activities (past 2 years)
    • Student Information Form (discipline and attendance)
    • IEP/504, if applicable
    When all required components of the application are uploaded to the mySFHS portal, the complete application will be submitted to the Admissions Review Committee for an acceptance decision. Typically, the review process takes 3-5 business days.

    Student Information Form
    Candidates should have positive recommendations that show responsibility, attendance, and respect in and out of the classroom. Candidates must in good standing (attendance and behavior) with their current school for SFHS admittance consideration.

    Please click here for the form, complete the top half, and submit to your child’s current school. The form will then be faxed/emailed directly from the present high school to St. Francis High School. Applicants do not need to submit additional recommendation forms and/or letters.
     
    IEP/504, if applicable
    SFHS can support students who need limited accommodations to be successful in a college preparatory high school. Students with diagnosed learning differences have been successful in all academic levels offered at SFHS.

    A complete psychoeducational or neuropsychological evaluation, within the last three years, must be submitted to SFHS for consideration of accommodations.
