Student Life

Student Life Overview

Life outside the classroom often defines a young person’s high school experience. The co-curricular endeavors of our students are inspiring and make St. Francis High School the special place that it is.

With a diverse student body that hails from zip codes and middle schools from all over the Chicago suburbs, it is hard to define a singular SFHS student experience. Whatever a student’s passion may be, there is likely an activity at SFHS to meet it. And if not, our students are encouraged to creatively fill the gap. Examples of pop-up clubs include SpartanTV, Chess Club, and Model UN.

It can be argued that Student Life at SFHS is what sets it apart from other high school experiences in our area. From clubs to dances, there are a variety of ways to be involved and show your Spartan spirit. If you have any questions about Student Life, please contact anyone on the Student Life Team.

  • Co-Curriculars & Clubs

Students explore hidden talents and find new passions with more than 30 clubs and activities at SFHS. Each club is moderated by a faculty or staff member who ensures that students find their niche and develop skills that complement their academics. A fun, social atmosphere encourages students to forge bonds with others who share similar interests and enhances a spirit of community among teachers and students outside the classroom.
  • Dances

SFHS hosts three student dances throughout the year. The Homecoming Dance is the Saturday of Homecoming weekend and is an event for the entire student body. The Winter Dance is the Saturday of the Winter Spirit Week. During the Spring semester, Juniors and Seniors can attend Prom, a dinner and dance held off campus.
  • School Spirit

School Spirit plays an important role in the SFHS community. Students take pride in their school and show their school spirit across a variety of events including Spiritwear days, retreats, class competitions, athletic events, and school dances. “Blue Crew,” a student-led spirit group, shows up to support our student-athletes at home and away games and shares student-specific content on their Instagram account.
