• Orchestra

  Orchestra provides a high-quality musical experience for students with the goal of fostering a love of music that extends beyond the classroom. Members are challenged to develop both individual skills and the necessary ensemble skills to ensure a polished performance. Students perform at the Christmas Concert, Mothers’ Club events, alumni and donor functions, and graduation. The group collaborates with both choir and band.

• Pep Band

  Pep Band represents and supports SFHS in correlation with the Blue Crew and at games/pep rallies to energize teams and fans. The Pep Band has auditioned and been accepted to play the IHSA State Volleyball and Basketball State Finals on numerous occasions.

• Jazz Band

  Jazz Band is a co-curricular opportunity that meets from November until mid-April. Students audition for placement and perform at multiple events throughout the year including the Christmas Concert, The West Chicagoland Catholic Tour, the school’s Annual Auction, and the Art and Jazz Showcase Night. The group meets Tuesday mornings and Thursdays after school. In 2022, six members of the Jazz Band were selected for the ILMEA District Honor Band and one was All-State.

• Music Ensemble (aka Rock Band)

  Being a member of the auditioned SFHS Rock Band is an honor. This group of highly motivated musicians meets 1st period as an academic class and is interested in performing high-quality rock/Christian contemporary/popular music. The Rock Band performs regularly throughout the school year at school events – open houses, pep rallies, and concerts both on-campus and across the nation.

• Percussion Ensemble

  This class is an incredible opportunity for students with a passion for percussion. Students experience a top-level drumline experience, develop their skills as mallet percussionists, play in small ensembles (buckets and garbage cans), and combine with the Wind Ensemble to play and perform classic to contemporary literature. Many students who study piano join percussion ensemble as it provides opportunities for rhythm section development.

• Wind Ensemble

  Opportunity for students with band experience (flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, etc.) to continue making music in high school during the school day. Students are exposed to Marching Band, Christmas Music, Solo and Ensemble literature and a wide mixture of classical to contemporary music. Students have been selected to the prestigious ILMEA District and State competitions and have continued playing their instruments at some of the top universities in the country (Notre Dame, Belmont, Indiana, Iowa, Miami, and many more).

• Worship Team

  Worship Team is a group of singers and musicians who use their talents to praise God during school liturgies. The group meets 3-4 times before and after school prior to the monthly liturgies.
