With Honors and/or AP offerings in every subject area of the college-preparatory curriculum, St. Francis High School offers an academic program one might expect to find at a larger school. With 60 faculty members, 72% hold advanced degrees, and 15% are alumni.
St. Francis High School’s core values promote a commitment to rigorous academics, and emphasize the importance of building community, developing character, growing in faith, and encouraging involvement.
Seniors present competitive college applications because SFHS elevates students to their highest potential. The Class of 2018 had a 27 average ACT score (IL average 20.6) and earned $33 million in college-scholarships.
98% of SFHS students participate in at least one activity. The Activity Period is scheduled after school and before practices begin, to encourage students to participate in clubs, try new things, or meet with a teacher.
In the spring of 2018, the Creator Space opened. In 2015, the Lacy Family Gateway opened, housing a wrestling room, dance studio, and concessions. In 2013, the Kuhn Memorial Stadium (football/lacrosse/soccer field) and Coach Nelson Track were completed. St. Francis High School opened the LEED Platinum certified Mary J. Feltes Science Suite and Learning Resource Center in 2011. The state-of-the-art Kuhn Cultural Arts Center (theater) and Spyglass Athletic Center opened in 2001.
Microsoft designated SFHS as a “Microsoft Showcase School” for successfully integrating technology into the classroom (each student uses a Surface Pro device) and partners with St. Francis High School to further enhance technology in education.
