Congratulations to Anya T. ’26, who completed an 8-week STEM internship with NASA this summer. She was part of the 2025 Aviation Concept Design Experience and learned about aerospace opportunities within the Aviation Systems Division at Ames Research Center in California.
The goal of the internship was to develop an aviation concept to help solve a current or future “wicked” real-world problem. Their research was published in September, titled “A Dual-Approach Framework for eVTOL Climb Noise Mitigation.” You can view it online here: https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/20250009012
Anya participated in the internship remotely, and a typical day included research and brainstorming with her team and presenting their work to their mentors, she said. She also visited the NASA headquarters in California.
“Since we took the entire process (from initial research to publication) step by step, each day looked a bit different as we moved across phases,” she said. “The best part was getting to meet peers who share my interests and being able to publish research that contributes to what I want to do in the future.”
She hopes to pursue the field of aerospace engineering in college and said she’ll be taking the skills from her internship with her.
“I came out of the internship with much more knowledge about the field than I started with,” she said. “It affirmed that I want to go into the field of aerospace and further developed my teamwork skills.”
