  • The SFHS Music Department placed first overall at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble State Competition (Class A) on Saturday, March 2! In their respective competitions and divisions, the SFHS Choir placed 1st for the fifth year in a row, band placed 2nd, and orchestra placed 3rd.

    SFHS Music Department Takes Top Honors at State

    For the first time, the SFHS Music Department (choir, band, and orchestra combined) placed first overall at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble State Competition (Class A) on Saturday, March 2!     Wrestler Jaylen T. '26 Takes 2nd at State

    Congratulations to Jaylen T. '26 for taking second at the Class 1A IHSA State Wrestling Championship in the 285-pound weight division on Saturday, February 17. Jaylen is also a two-time sectional champion in his sophomore year. Congratulations on all of your hard work to Jaylen and the entire Spartan wrestling team!

    Principal Huhn Inducted Into Alma Mater's Hall of Fame

    Principal Raeann Huhn, who has served St. Francis High School for 38 years, was inducted into LaSalle-Peru High School's Hall of Honor the weekend of February 2.

    Ms. Huhn, Class of 1978 at the school, was recognized for being an instrumental leader who has shaped St. Francis High School into an academic and athletic powerhouse. Also under her tenure, SFHS received the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award from the U.S. Department of Education.

    Matt Mucci ‘03 visited Dr. Juliano's Engineering class this month to share about his career as an engineer - what he calls being "a professional problem-solver." He encouraged students to stay broad in their choice of what area of engineering to focus on and offered different examples of careers in engineering.

    2016 Alums' Surprise Engagement at SFHS

    Molly Doran ’16 and Mike Mayor ’16 first met in Religion class at St. Francis High School during their sophomore year. This summer, they returned to the halls of the school for what Molly thought was an errand but turned out to be a day that would change their lives.

    Mike took her to the locker they shared their senior year, got down on one knee, and proposed. (She said yes!)

    Two Students Named School Winners of Heisman Scholarship

    Andrew M. '24 and Dolly S. '24 were named School Winners in the 2023 Heisman High School Scholarship, awarded by The Heisman Trophy Trust.
     
    Andrew and Molly were selected from thousands of applicants nationwide and are eligible to become State Winners, then one of 12 National Finalists, and ultimately one of two National Winners. College scholarships are awarded in the amounts of $1,000 for State Winners, $2,000 for National Finalists, and $10,000 for National Winners.

    48 Students Named Illinois State Scholars

    St. Francis High School is pleased to announce that 48 students from the class of 2024 have been designated as Illinois State Scholars, a prestigious recognition of academic achievement presented by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. 
     
    This fantastic representation accounts for 29% of the senior class.

    Girls Volleyball Wins 3A State Championship

    Spartan Girls Volleyball won the 3A State Championship on Saturday, November 11, against Lincoln High School! This is the team's second consecutive state title and the 14th state title in Spartan Girls Volleyball history.
     
  • Charlie C. '24 completes his Eagle Scout project.

    Charlie C. '24 Earns Eagle Scout

    Charlie C. ’24 completed the tremendous accomplishment of earning his Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop #849 this summer. His project, which was to create mosquito traps and tick drags for the DuPage County Forest Preserve, helped the organization test for West Nile Virus.

    Two Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

    St. Francis High School is proud to announce two of its seniors are National Merit Semifinalists this year: congratulations to Elleson C. and Sofia H.! Fewer than 1 percent of high school seniors in the nation are selected as semifinalists in this program each year.
