The time that no one thought was coming has finally come! Tom Brady recently announced his retirement from the NFL on February 1st, 2022. Tom Brady made his NFL debut on September 23, 2001, with the New England Patriots. Many people consider Tom Brady to be one of the greatest football players of all time! Brady has gone to the Super Bowl 10 times and has walked away with 7 rings.
Let’s rewind a bit to 1996: Tom Brady played football at the University of Michigan. For his first 2 years with the Wolverines, Brady played as a backup quarterback, but during the 1998 and 1999 seasons, Brady served as the starter QB. Later, Brady was even named captain of the team. Brady graduated in December of 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in general studies.
Brady was drafted in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. During his time in New England, Brady won of his 6 rings and went to the Super Bowl 9 times. Many of Brady’s coaches and teammates are starting to speak out about how saddened they are about the news of his retirement. Bill Belichick stated in an interview, “…Tom’s humble beginning in professional football ultimately ended with him becoming the best player in NFL history.”
Many people are wondering what Tom Brady will do once he is retired. Many have thought he might even coach when he retires from being on the field, but Brady shut that idea down quickly. Brady plans on helping run his companies that he has founded full-time.
Brady is not yet eligible to be in the Football Hall of Fame, but in 2027, when he is first eligible, he will most likely be inducted. While Brady's career as a professional quarterback in the NFL has recently come to a close, Brady definitely has much in store for the future!
