Does Wealth Translate to Happiness?

Emmy Hollarbush
What does it take to live a life of happiness? Is it money?
Some people might say yes. Money enables people to have a lot of different opportunities such as high-end clothing, household items, traveling, and more. But does money directly translate to laughter, enjoyment, and pleasure?

In 2010, Princeton University led a study to find out the truth. The researchers concluded that there is indeed a correlation between happiness and wealth, but only up to a point of about $75,000 per year. This means that once someone hits the income of $75,000 per year, their happiness does not increase any further. So, in some way, money does indeed correlate to happiness but only to a certain point, until it no longer matters.

Happiness comes from making good choices, including choosing to be happy. It is important to be thankful for the things you have instead of always wanting more. You can always try to have a positive outlook on things and be happy with where you are at. It does help to make a certain amount of money a year and be financially secure, but from there, it is up to you to choose happiness from the situation you are in. For example, you might be a millionaire, but if you are always wanting more things, that could be stressful as you will always feel unsatisfied instead of being happy with what you have.

Happiness in life should come from the people around us as well as within ourselves.

A lot of people might disagree and say that their happiness comes from their income amount. Maybe they are able to buy the car of their dreams or go on an amazing vacation, but someone can still do all that and not be happy in life. It is important to be always grateful for those opportunities instead of feeling like never enough. Money can be a great tool to motivate you in your life and should be used the right way to bring yourself happiness. Money from the result of work should be used as a gift.
Long story short, wealth does not translate to happiness. It is very nice and a blessing to be financially stable to a certain point, but proceeding that, it is essential to bring yourself happiness and not rely on money to bring you joy that you can simply find within.
