The Lost Husband is Romantic but Unoriginal (by Molly O’Donnell '21)

Fall weather is approaching, meaning more time will be spent indoors. Watching movies is a great way to stay occupied!
The movie The Lost Husband follows the widowed mother Libby, who moves into her aunt's house with her children until she can get back on her feet. Libby must confront her internalized feelings about her husband's death and adjust to living on a farm with her aunt. Libby also has to work on the farm while there and is taught the proper techniques by the farm manager, James O'Conner, played by Josh Duhamel. Slowly, James and Libby get to know each other and develop a relationship. Libby starts to enjoy living at the farm, until she is confronted with a secret about her childhood.

Overall, I enjoyed The Lost Husband. The movie had excellent acting, and the setting was serene. The movie was set in a small country town with charming forests and scenery. However, it was very predictable due to the main character having to completely change her lifestyle after going through something traumatic. The movie is very cliché and similar to movies found on Hallmark

I would recommend The Lost Husband to those who enjoy romance films because the entire movie is about love and family life. Also, I recommend it those who like movies based on books because it was based on Katherine Center's 2013 novel. I would rate it a 7 out of 10 stars for the lack of originality.
