Board of Directors

St. Francis High School College Preparatory is part of the teaching mission of the Roman Catholic Church. As a Catholic educational institution, it operates in the Diocese of Joliet with permission of the Bishop. St. Francis High School was incorporated in 1957 as a private, not-for-profit corporation. The Board of Directors is a governing board acting according to the Articles of Incorporation, the Bylaws of the Corporation, and the legal statutes related to the General Not-for-Profit Act of the State of Illinois.

The current Bylaws were formally enacted on November 13, 2006. The responsibilities of the Board shall include:

• Fiscal Supervision
• Evaluating St. Francis High School's Major Programs
• Strategic Planning
• Advancement
• Hiring, Retaining and Assessing the President of St. Francis High School

The Board operates under the following standing committees:

  • Education Committee

    The Education Committee has the primary responsibility of overseeing and evaluating spiritual, academic, and co-curricular programs, and reviewing athletic and discipline policies with regard to the philosophy and mission statement of the school, student needs and future direction. The Education Committee is comprised of the School President, the Principal, at least two Directors and additional appointed members representing particular areas of expertise.
  • Executive Committee

    The Executive Committee develops Board of Directors and Committee goals, prepares meeting agendas, serves as counsel to School President and acts as an urgent action committee as needed between Board of Directors meetings. The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors is comprised of the Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Directors, the School President, the Chairpersons of all standing committees of the Board of Directors, and two Directors appointed by the Board of Directors. The Chairperson shall serve as the chair of the Executive Committee.
  • Finance Committee

    The Finance Committee is responsible for monitoring the financial operations of St. Francis High School. Members make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding the selection of the auditors, in addition to the approval of the Corporation's annual audit report, tuition policy, and annual operating and capital budgets. The committee also reviews the Corporation's fiscal and accounting policies and policies regarding its buildings and grounds. The Finance Committee is comprised of the School President, Director of Finance, Vice President of Institutional Advancement, at least two members of the Board of Directors and additional appointed members with related expertise.
  • Human Resource Committee

  • Institutional Advancement Committee

    The Institutional Advancement Committee shall be responsible, in consultation with the Education and Finance Committees, for developing and recommending to the Board of Directors, the Corporation's strategic plan. The Committee will operate as four subcommittees in Fundraising, Alumni, Recruitment/Enrollment and Marketing/Communications and will review, make recommendations and assist St. Francis High School in these areas. The Institutional Advancement Committee is comprised of the School President, the Vice-President of Institutional Advancement, at least two members of the Board of Directors and additional appointed members representing particular areas of expertise.
  • IT Committee

    In process of being formed.

  • Nominating Committee

    The Nominating Committee has the responsibility for assessing the expertise of the existing Board and its Committees, as well as recruiting members to balance the skills and area of expertise needed by the Board of Directors or organization. Board orientation, evaluation and retreats are also developed and coordinated by the Nominating Committee. Composition of this Committee includes the Board Officers, Nominating Committee Chair, the School President, and others determined by the Board Chair.
