Eco-Friendly Colleges

College decisions are important, and there are plenty of things to keep in mind when researching and applying like rankings, dorms, and the overall school atmosphere. However, one thing many people don’t keep in mind is how eco-aware the college is. A good institution will always try its best to keep its campus clean and healthy, especially in major times of sickness. When finalizing your choices, you may want to keep these three colleges on your radar:

  1. University of Colorado

The University of Colorado was the first college to have a platinum status in the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System. It has an amazing food program that stops food waste and tries to help people eat healthier. It’s a future-forward project that makes people aware of how much they are wasting and ways to help.

  1. University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill has a large number of sustainability projects in relation to construction, hardware, transportation, water, and food waste. These projects promote a sustainable culture many maintain even after college. Their goal is to have zero water waste, zero landfill usage, and zero greenhouse gas emissions.

  1. University of Virginia

The University of Virginia is one of the nine institutes to be recognized as a Green Ribbon school, and it has many programs like Green Labs, Green Workplace, and Waster Diversion that give resources to empower students to reduce waste in daily life on and off campus.
