SFHS Football Tackles Breast Cancer

The St. Francis High School football team is hosting “St. Francis Tackles Breast Cancer” during its Senior Night at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF). The NBCF supports women affected by breast cancer by providing help and inspiring hope through early detection, education, and support services. Attendees are encouraged to buy T-shirts, participate in raffles, or donate directly to support the cause.

The SFHS Spartans will take on the visiting Bishop McNamara Catholic School Fighting Irish (Kankakee) at Kuhn Memorial Stadium, 2130 W. Roosevelt Road in Wheaton, and is also celebrating its graduating seniors on the team that evening.

“Our annual senior night takes on a special meaning this year because of the opportunity to raise money for an important cause,” said Spartans Head Coach, Bob McMillen. “The entire community has been behind our football team all year, and we want to do our part to tackle cancer that is too prevalent.”

The Spartans will don special edition pink jerseys for the event and attendees are encouraged to wear pink in a show of support for the cause. Volunteers will also be selling special edition pink T-shirts featuring the St. Francis Tackles Breast Cancer logo for $20.

Thank you to French Med Spa for donating the cost of the T-shirts and providing T-shirts to the entire student section free of charge.

Special thanks are also due to the families and businesses in the community who donated raffle items as well as an SFHS family who pledged to match the amount collected for the game’s admissions and donate it to NBCF.
