On January 27, 2022, a US F-35C Fighter Jet crashed on an aircraft carrier and plunged into the South China Sea.
As the jet plummeted, it took down with it its classified technology, and that is now in international waters. When the F-35C crash-landed, 6 sailors were injured, along with the pilot, who was able to eject before the plane fell into the ocean. The US salvage crew says that they can get there within 10 days; however, that would give the Chinese submarines a chance to locate the plane and get access to the secret technology that it uses.
This then presents the question, "who will get there first", and then, "if this plane crashed once, could it be a defect with others as well?" For the second question, only time will tell, but for the first question, there is a high possibility that we get to recover it; however, there is also a small risk that the Chinese submarines would get to the plane first and gain access to its technology.
