SFHS Varsity Boys Basketball Team Plan Surprise Celebration for Mentor and WWII Veteran’s 100th Birthday
Earlier this year the St. Francis High School Varsity Boys Basketball team met with WWII Veteran and prisoner of war hero, Howie Chittenden. The meeting came in connection to the boys’ work with the Travis Manion Foundation whose mission is to empower veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. For the team, Howie has served as a mentor in character development, teaching the boys about selfless leadership, service and respect. This month the boys teamed up with others to plan a surprise celebration for Howie’s milestone 100th birthday on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
