Balanced effort overcomes slow start
The Spartans overcame a slow start behind Ashley Powell's well-rounded game in their Regional opening win. Ashley had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 deflections, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Alyssa Freeman had an equally well-rounded game with 7 points, 9 rebounds, 6 deflections, and 4 steals. Courtny Bridgeforth led the Spartans in scoring with 28, Tenley Glock added 3 deflections and 5 steals, and Talia Engesser scored 7. Spartans advance to Regional finals for rematch with De La Salle.
