Ava B. Awarded National Merit Scholarship
We are thrilled to announce that Ava B. ’26 has been awarded a National Merit Scholarship! Ava is one of 2,500 finalists nationwide to receive the award, selected from 15,000 semifinalists and the 1.3 million high school juniors who entered the 2026 program.
The number of semifinalists in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors, putting Ava in an elite class of award winners nationwide.
Ava is this year’s Valedictorian of the Class of 2026, an Illinois State Scholar, and also earned the Congressional Award Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed by U.S. Congress to students. At St. Francis, she serves on the Student Ambassador Leadership Team (SALT), Mission & Ministry Team, and is a senior officer for Student Government. Congratulations, Ava!
