David Johnson
The St. Francis High School Community would like to extend our condolences to the Johnson family on the passing of David W. Johnson, father of Gabe Johnson '16.
David Johnson, “Pops”, “Doc”, age 59, a resident of Naperville, IL, passed away July 26, 2017 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on July 20, 1958 in Aurora, IL.
David is survived by his children, Taylor (Emanuel) Hambelant, Tarrah Johnson, Lucas Johnson, Gabriel Johnson '16 and U’neek Ramsey, and their mother, Gina Johnson; his grandchildren, Jax Hambelant and Brooklyn Trim; his siblings, Carol Nelson and Jeff (Dory) Johnson; as well as a lifetime of great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Loane Johnson and his brother, James Paul Johnson.
Dave was a graduate of Oswego High School, class of 1976. He worked as an air traffic controller for the FAA for 28 years, and retired in 2014. Dave was extremely active in his children’s lives and was a “dad” to their many friends. A lifelong athlete, Dave enjoyed all sports and coached his children’s many teams.
