SFHS Music Department Takes Top Honors at State

For the first time, the SFHS Music Department (choir, band, and orchestra combined) placed first overall at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble State Competition (Class A) on Saturday, March 2! In their respective competitions and divisions, the SFHS Choir placed 1st for the fifth year in a row, band placed 2nd, and orchestra placed 3rd.  
 
Individually, Amanda Gierek and Alec Kissane received the Best of the Day Award in recognition of the most superior musical performance heard by a judge. Additionally, the percussion ensemble got a superior rating for their performance of "Doxy." The following students received a perfect score - one of the highest, if not the highest, number of students to receive a perfect score in SFHS history:
