George Thoma '63

George A. Thoma Jr. died at the age of 78.

 

He is survived by Ann, his wife of more than 50 years, his sisters and brothers, as well as nieces and nephews around the world.

 

He spent his career teaching Economics at Elmhurst College from 1970 to 2009, when he retired with the rank of Distinguished Emeritus Professor. He lived in China as Consulting Professor at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in 1983, 1985, and 1987. In 1994 he was a Fulbright Professor of International Economics at Shandong University in Jinan, China. He lived a charmed life.
