Susan Mary Bombenger '64 Eagan

The St. Francis High School community would like to extend our condolences to the Bobbenger and Eagan famiiles on the passing of Susan Mary Bombenger '64 Eagan, sister of James Bombenger '65.
Susan Mary Eagan (nee Bombenger), born August 20, 1946, passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by family, on August 17, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Douglas Eagan, her two daughters, Heather Marie Watters and Meghan Christine Eagan, son-in-law, Ryan Ean Schlifka, and her two granddaughters Àine Catherine Watters and Vivienne Eagan Schlifka, as well as her mother, Marion Catherine Czachor, brother, James Bombenger '65, and sister Jayne Wolff.

Susan retired from the DuPage County Health Department where she worked for over 25 years. In her youth, she had aspirations of being a nurse.
Sue grew up on Chicago’s South Side, and moved to Villa Park at age 8. Her grandmother, Catherine Jann Melsheimer, lived with the family and was a great influence on Sue. She had fond childhood memories of frequently taking the train to Milwaukee with her grandmother, always riding in the dining car.

Sue was admired by everyone for her grace and resiliency. In the face of a terminal illness, she still managed to find joy in everyday life and until the end was able to continue her great appreciation for wine and chocolate! She will be missed by her family and the many friends she made over the years.
