James Cronin

The St. Francis High School community would like to extend our condolences to the Cronin family on the passing of James Cronin, father of Joseph Cronin ‘75, Kevin Cronin ‘76, Laura ‘77 (John) Sandberg, Sheila ’77 (Anthony) Lucia, Patricia ‘78 (Jeffrey) Kraft, Monica ‘80 (Jeffrey) Carstens, Mary ‘81 (Larry) Spatz, and Donna ’83 (John) Piemonte; grandfather of Dayna Cronin '95 Sweders, Katie Cronin '98 Acheson, Luke Cronin '05, Daniel Cronin '06, Ryan Spatz '10, Anna Spatz '12, Lillian Spatz '14, Joseph Spatz '17, Calvin Piemonte '21.
James Edward Cronin, born on Nov. 14, 1925 in Chicago, passed away peacefully at his home in West Chicago, IL on July 26, 2018 at the age of 92. James graduated from Notre Dame as a member of the US Navy in 1946. James is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice, two sons Joseph ‘75 and Kevin ‘76, and six daughters Laura ‘77 (John) Sandberg, Sheila ’77 (Anthony) Lucia, Patricia ‘78 (Jeffrey) Kraft, Monica ‘80 (Jeffrey) Carstens, Mary ‘81 (Larry) Spatz, and Donna ’83 (John) Piemonte. He has twenty-six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. His sister, Margaret, still resides in California.
