Two groups of SFHS students participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student Visionaries program this spring, raising more than $120,000 for the organization.
The teams of SFHS students were “Team Cancer is Over,” made up of Meghan B. '25, Lauren J. '25, and Gracie R. Azaria A. ’24 helped recruit and mentor her fellow students after she raised $100,000 last year.

“There were a lot of people in my life experiencing cancer diagnoses and I wanted to do my part to support the cancer community,” Azaria said of getting involved.

Team Stronger Than Cancer received the organization’s Impact Award for topping $100,000. Mia earned Team Member of the Year by raising more than $40,000 on her own, Mercedes and Mia were members of the $10k Club, and Jack was a member of the $5k Club.

The organization surpassed its overarching goal of $1 million thanks to Chicagoland area teams.
