Evangeline "Baby" Garcia

The St. Francis High School community would like to extend our condolences to the Garcia family on the passing of Evangeline "Baby" Garcia, mother of Stacey Garcia '95 Klaus, Topher Garcia '97 and grandmother of Thaia Garcia '18. 
 
Evangeline "Baby" Garcia, age 71, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died April 9, 2019. She was born October 5, 1947 in the Philippines.

Baby graduated with a Bachelor's degree in education from National Teacher University in the Philippines and spent a short period teaching at an elementary school in Quezon City, Philippines. She immigrated to Chicago in 1970 where she met her husband Frank. They were married May 31, 1974 and raised their children Stacey and Topher. In 1987, the Garcia family moved to Paraguay for Frank's project at the Yacyreta Hydroelectric Power Station. They moved back to the United States in 1990 and settled back in the western suburbs of Chicago. Upon moving back to the States, she continued her career as an insurance underwriter and eventually retired after the birth of her grandchildren.

Baby was an avid world traveler and loved to shop and cook. She was a devout parishioner at St. Isidore Church in Bloomingdale. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Garcia. Her children Stacey (Gavin) Klaus and Topher (Sarah) Garcia. Her grandchildren Thaia, Ellie, Lyla, Kendall, Oliver and Lucy. Her siblings: Lulu (Nitz) Cervantes, Bambee (Ed) Quijano, Myrna (Ron) Carillo, Rey (Merle) Robles, Danny (Brenda) Robles & Lee Robles. Baby was preceded in death by three siblings: Flori Maglaya, Rodney Robles & Modesto Robles, Jr.

A visitation will be held Monday, April 22, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL. Chapel prayers will be held at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:45 a.m. at St. Isidore Church, 427 W. Army Trail Rd., Bloomingdale, IL 60108. Interment will follow at St. Isidore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Baby's name may be directed to St. Isidore Church.
