Robert John Krzyzewski

The St. Francis High School community would like to extend our condolences to the Krzyzewski family on the passing of Robert John Krzyzewski, father of  Robert Jr. '71 (the late Cynthia Lindstrom '71 Krzyzewski) Krzyzewski.
Robert John Krzyzewski (Kross), age 90, a resident of Wheaton, IL, for over 50 years, was called home on Monday, April 1, 2019, at DuPage Care Center in Wheaton. He was born August 18, 1928 in Chicago to Joe and Barbara Krzyzewski (Kross).

Bob grew up on the south-side of Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was a 2nd Lt. in the Engineers. He met Ellen Lundgren at a dance in Twin Lakes, WI. They were married on October 11, 1952 and then moved to Ft. Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska where he was stationed.

Due to ailing parents he choose to leave the Army and he returned to Chicago to civilian life. Shortly after coming home, his son Robert was born. He began working in the Large Accounts Department at Oscar Meyer. In 1966, he and Ellen moved to Wheaton and opened a small convenient food store. Later he joined the Allstate Corporation where he had his greatest successes. He retired in 1996.

After retirement he had the opportunity to enjoy spending time with family, fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling. He was a people person who always made everyone feel special. He was a loyal parishioner at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheaton for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen, one son, Robert Jr. (the late Cynthia) Krzyzewski, six granddaughters, Jennifer (Tom) Gowen, Carly (James) Funk, Katie (Jeremy) Joiner, Jackie (Ed) Kwiatkowski, Barbara Krzyzewski, Kirstin Krzyzewski, his only grandson, Joseph, and his 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joseph and sister, Joan.
