World Languages National Honor SocietiesThe World Language curriculum affords students the opportunity to begin or continue their study of Chinese, French and/or Spanish. In accordance with the National Foreign Language Standards, the curriculum is designed to foster communication in the target language, to stress knowledge of the target culture, to encourage connections with other disciplines, to make comparisons between the target language and culture and their own, and finally, to participate in multilingual communities at home and around the world.

Spanish Honors Society–Application
The Honor Societies for World Languages commend students for their dedication and high achievement in Spanish, French, and Chinese. To be inducted, each language has a different application process and stipulations based on the charters from the following associations: Chinese Language Association Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS), American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), and American Association of Teacher of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP).
Students who meet the requirements for an honor society will receive an invitation through their homeroom folder during the third week of January (17th-20th).
All applications are due January 26th to the corresponding chapter leader. Please see the by-laws and applications for each honor society on the World Languages Academic page on the website. Contact Ms. Wen (Chinese NHS), Ms. Klingele (French NHS), and Mrs. Myers (Spanish NHS) with any questions. The induction ceremony is 6:30 p.m. on February 15th and the current members who are graduating seniors will also be recognized.
