Exciting Events and Opportunities with the Mothers’ Club (formerly the Parents’ Organization)
The 2016-2017 school year is an exciting one as St. Francis High School celebrates its 60th year! There have been many wonderful additions and changes to the school over the years. Early in the history, SFHS had a Mothers’ Club which evolved into the Parents’ Organization. Even within this organization, our roles and committees have changed. It became clear that the time has come to return to our roots. We are excited to formally announce the reorganization of the Mothers’ Club. The St. Francis Mothers’ Club is founded on fellowship between moms and sharing of our Catholic faith, while still supporting the wonderful volunteer opportunities that the PO has cultivated.
You are already a member of the Mothers’ Club— everyone is. I encourage you to get involved in your student’s high school journey. Here is a quick rundown of what the Mothers’ Club is doing and how you can get involved:
Hospitality—The beginning of the year started early for the Hospitality Committee. 411 Night was its’ first event as we welcomed parents of Freshman and Transfer Students to the St. Francis family. This is an easy committee to get involved with, especially if you are limited on time. The next big events will be the Open Houses.
Spartan Wear also began early getting Spartan Spirit going at early events. Look for Spartan Wear at the home football games. There are many new items, so show your Spartan Colors.
The Faculty & Staff Appreciation Committee makes sure the faculty know how much the parents appreciate them with monthly meals. Select a month or two when you can provide a monthly token of appreciation for our faculty and staff by baking goodies, donating food, serving a meal, or providing a raffle gift. This is another great way to get involved if you are limited on time.
A Winter Wonderland You don’t want to miss this great “Friend-Raiser” on Sunday, November 20. The Fashion Show Committee is busy organizing this very fun event. Please plan on attending. Volunteering is a great way to get a behind-the-scenes look.
Concessions keeps Spartan Fans happy and fed at our home sporting events. All proceeds from Concessions goes directly into all of the Athletic programs.
Ensuring Our Future auction: A Night at the Races is the schools premier fundraising event. Mark your calendars now for March 11 and plan on attending. See the auction webpage for all of the details and how you can get involved. www.sfhscollegeprep.org/auction
Have you been enjoying getting those extra informational e-mails about events at St. Francis? Your Parish Rep has been sending those out to make sure you stay “in the loop”. If you haven’t been receiving these, please contact me so I can make sure your rep has your proper e-mail address.
While there are so many more committees, the last one I want to mention now is our new HELPING HANDS. Do you want to be involved but don’t want to commit to a specific committee? Helping Hands is your ticket. All committees can ask for volunteers from Helping Hands and you can volunteer as your schedule allows. This is a great way to really help wherever there is a need, meet new people, and enjoy your St. Francis experience.
You will be amazed how much you enjoy meeting the parents of your student’s friends and have fun doing it. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time with questions, comments, concerns at mothersclubnot firstname.lastname@example.org@sfhscollegeprepnot this.org . Welcome to another great school year and to the St. Francis Family.
