Gateway Project  FAQs

We thought you might have some questions about the campaign. Here are some of the answers. If we haven't answered your question please contact us.

Q. When is the deadline for making a pledge?

A.  All pledges should be made by December 31, 2014 so that we can present to the bank support for short-term construction financing.

Q. Can I pay my pledge over multiple years?

A. Yes, you can pay your pledge over multiple years. We encourage you to make a multi-year pledge and honor that commitment with a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, or customized payment schedule. While all gifts, regardless of amount or frequency, are appreciated, pledging over three years typically allows for more substantial support. As a courtesy, we will send payment reminders.

Q. None of my children dance or wrestle, why should I contribute to this project?

A. Over the past 15 years the school has had three capital campaigns: 1)  In 1999 to build the Kuhn Cultural Arts Center and the Spyglass Athletic Center 2) in 2004-2010 to build the Mary J. Feltes Science Suite and the Robinson Family Learning Center and 3) in 2013 Kuhn Memorial Stadium.  The success of each of those campaigns was the result of the generosity of many people whose children did not directly benefit from a given project. It is our hope that you would contribute with the same spirit of generosity.

Q. Why is each donor asked to complete a letter of intent? What happens if a donor is unable to fulfill a commitment to the campaign?

A.  Donors are asked to sign a letter of intent as a good faith commitment, indicating that they agree to the terms of the pledge and so that the high school is clear about the donor's intent. A letter of intent is also needed so the gift can be properly recorded and acknowledged. A letter of intent demonstrates to the bank that the school has the financial support needed to fund a short term construction loan. While a letter of intent is not a legally binding document, our budget reflects that all commitments are made with the intention of being fulfilled. A donor who is unable to fulfill a commitment, even temporarily, is encouraged to contact the high school.

Q. What type of gifts are acceptable? Is my gift tax deductible?

A. We accept cash, checks, credit, and stock gifts. Yes, gifts are deductible to the full extent of the law. The St. Francis High School Tax ID is 36-2373448.

Q. Does the school accept gifts of securities to pay off pledges:

A.  Yes, stock gifts are welcome and can provide excellent ways to minimize your tax liabilities with appreciated stocks.

If you are make a gift of securities, please share these stock transfer instructions with your broker:

First Clearing, One North Jefferson Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103

DTC # 0141

Account Name = St. Francis High School

Account Number = 4063-3867

Q. Do you accept matching gifts?

A. Donors are strongly encouraged to inquire about their employers' matching gift programs. Each program matches a donor's charitable gift, often doubling or even tripling the original donation.

Q. Does the project impact the tennis courts?

A. No, the tennis courts are not impacted by the new building.

Q. How can I help?

We encourage you to help by, making a gift to the Campaign, praying for our success, and/or sharing the good news about St. Francis High School with your family, friends, and co-workers. These are just some of the ways that you can take part in ensuring that we continue to grow and succeed.

Q. When will groundbreaking take place?

A. We anticipate breaking ground in mid-May, 2015.

Q. When will construction be completed?

A.  Our goal is to complete construction by the end of August, 2015 so that our wrestling and dance programs will be using their space in the 2015-2016 school year and that our fans will have use of indoor restrooms for our first home games in football and soccer.

Q. Where is information on the website?

Notes from the Nurse:
In recent weeks there has been much said and written about Ebola. Although it is very unlikely that the Ebola virus will affect our community, it is reasonable to ask how our local Health Department is preparing. Click here for further information.

Not to detract from the significance of Ebola disease on the world-wide stage, we do want to remind you of an illness that poses a definite threat to you and your family - seasonal influenza. Seasonal influenza can kill and sends thousands to the hospital each year. Please have your student vaccinated.  As always, remind your student to cover their coughs and sneezes, wash their hands frequently/use hand sanitizer and lastly, keep them home if they are sick.  Click here for signs and symptoms of seasonal influenza.
