Note from the Principal

Congratulations to senior Clint Bobowski for being named the Sun-Times Athlete of the week.

Congratulations to Amanda Sallmann '16 as she was accepted into the Cindy Bandle Young Critics program through Chicago's Goodman Theatre. The program is a joint effort between the theatre and Chicago's Association of Women Journalists in which she will be seeing all Goodman's plays throughout the year and attending workshops to learn from these professional women how to write exceptional theatre reviews.

Kelsey Robinson '10 and Team USA made history Sunday beating China and winning the first world championship gold medal for the U.S. Women's program at the FIVB World Championship held in Italy. Next up, Kelsey leaves for Beijing China where she will play professionally for Baic Motor Volleyball Club. Congratulations Kelsey!

Congratulations to Chelsea Baker '10 who was crowned Miss Italian-American Columbus Day Queen and was in the Columbus Day parade downtown this past Monday. She will also represent the Italian-American community throughout the year at various events.

Blessings to you and yours,

Raeann Huhn

On October 21st
St. Francis will
What is Mix It UP at Lunch?

On October 21st, we will encourage our students to join hundreds of thousands of students around the country and stir things up in the school cafeteria. The event encourages students to identify, challenge & cross the social boundaries that divide schools & communities.

As at many schools, the cafeteria at lunchtime is a social map of our whole school. A map criss-crossed with boundaries. These boundaries can create divisions and misunderstanding in schools and can lead to bullying, harassment and violence. But by working to cross the barriers, students can help create an environment that is characterized by less conflict and instead by more tolerance.

Please encourage your children to see what happens if they mix it up at lunch and swap seats in the cafeteria, step out of their comfort zone and sit somewhere new, with someone new.
