College Financial Aid
Parent Information Program

St. Francis High School is sponsoring a parent information program on College Financial Aid on Tuesday, October 7, at 7:00 PM in the Kuhn Cultural Arts Center. Paul Cozzi of the College Planners will explain the myths and facts of college financial aid, tips on completing financial aid forms, and how families can obtain the maximum amount of financial aid for which they qualify. This program is appropriate for parents of students of all grade levels. Early planning is critical for college financial aid.

Gateway Project

Thanks to the support of so many of you, the dream of updating our athletic complex is coming true! Because of your many generous donations, our Bring It All Back Home Campaign brought Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, and Track back home to beautiful Kuhn Memorial Stadium and the Coach Scott Nelson Track in 2013.

St. Francis is thrilled to have completed Phase One of our goal. Now is the time to complete Phase Two of our capital improvement project and Bring IT ALL Back Home with the addition of the "Gateway Project."

We are excited to provide Dance and Wrestling a home practice space! We know our fans will be thrilled to replace the "port-a-potties" with indoor restrooms. And we are anxious to improve our concessions facility to accommodate our growing fan bases and share our warm hospitality. The Gateway Project will enrich the experience for our students and families. It will accomplish the following:

  • Improve Student Safety by keeping Dancers and Wrestlers on campus.
  • Enhance the accommodations and hygiene for fans with indoor restrooms.
  • Provide a space to call "home" for the Dance and Wrestling programs.
  • Add 3,400 square feet to campus Physical Education space.

We ask for your support for the Phase Two Gateway Project. Yes, we have another burst of effort ahead of us, but we hope you share our excitement and vision. To date we have $375,000 pledged towards our goal of $1,450,000.  We aim to achieve our pledge goal by December 31, 2014 to break ground in May, 2015.

For more information or to make a pledge, contact Tom Bednar at 630-668-5800 x1102 or visit our online link:

Outta Uniform Committee Thank You
The Outta Uniform Committee extends a big thank you to everyone for their support in the form of funds and ideas! In the recent past, due to your monthly contributions, Outta Uniform (OU) has funded fully or contributed to the following:  Senior Prom, the replacement of exercise machines in the Fitness Center, purchased occasional tables for the LRC that have the capability to charge electronic equipment, the Tabernacle & Candle Pedestal for the chapel, video cameras for student use, an LCD Projector, casual seating area in the new Learning Resource Center, a drying oven in the new Science Suite, a new sound and lighting system for the Kuhn Cultural Arts Center, professional Shakespeare performances for students, and this year, contributed funds towards the renovation of the Spartan Theater, including projection and sound, new seating and carpeting.

With your continued support and ideas, we plan to continue to help improve St. Francis for the benefit of the entire community. Our next OU day is Friday, October 17. Thank you!

Library News

September 15 to October 15 marks National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time when the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americansto the United States are celebrated.  In honor of this celebration, the LRC is giving recognition to the accomplishments of Hispanic explorers, scientists, inventors, writers and public servants with a display of materials that showcases their talent and dedication to their heritage and to the United States. All are invited to visit the LRC and view or checkout these items.

Senior Celebration Needs YOU!
While the Senior Celebration isn't until April 18, we still need some volunteers to chair this very special event.  We have several key committee chairs, but we still need 2-4 people to step up to be the Chairs.  If we do not get any chairs, we will not be able to hold the Senior Celebration, which would truly be a loss for the Class of 2015.  So grab a couple of your friends and let me know you want to Chair the Senior Celebration. Please contact me at This is a great event and many hands make for light work. Please contact me today!
