St. Francis Christmas Toy Drive
This drive is very short- approximately two weeks and is sponsored by the Volleyball team. We collect NEW AND UNWRAPPED toys for children and bring them to homerooms. We distribute them through the Reach for the Moon Foundation which was established by our very own alum:  Shelley Sensale'86 Bruss. Reach for the Moon helps with the basic needs of children: food, clothing, medical and dental needs. The drive will complete the Tues. after Thanksgiving.  So, get out there and find some GREAT Black Friday deals and make a child's Christmas happier. Merry Christmas

Free Presentation for Parents
Wednesday, December 2, 2015 -7-9:00 PM
Wednesday, December 2, 2015 Raising a Happier, Healthier, More Competent and Compassionate Child: The Practice of Emotional Intelligence to Gain Inner Strength and Interpersonal Success 7-9:00 PM, Glenbard South High School Auditorium, 23W200 Butterfield Rd. Glen Ellyn, 60137. In this presentation Marc Brackett PhD the director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence will review the research on why emotions matter and describe the theory of emotional intelligence and its impact on important life outcomes.Educational psychologists agree that emotional intelligence has more influence on a child's lifelong success than their IQ. Emotional intelligence helps cultivate happiness, and grit. It is the ability to manage emotions to become self-aware, form healthier relationships, overcome challenges and relieve stress. Emotional intelligence can decrease aggression, bullying, and enhance problem solving skills, empathy and academic performance These skills are an essential component of every child's learning and lead to a more fulfilling life. Marc Brackett PhD is a senior research scientist focusing on the role of emotional intelligence to advance learning, good mental health and school climate, he also facilitates the Born This Way Foundation, founded by Lady Gaga which is part of a national initiative called the Emotion Revolution.
