St. Francis Commemorative Bookplate Design
Competition Winners

St. Francis High School Learning Resource Center announces the winner of its annual Bookplate Design Competition. The competition invites all students to design an original bookplate which incorporates the current year's theme into a design that typifies and identifies the unique qualities, characteristics and spirit of St. Francis. The theme for this year's competition was St. Francis High School: A Christian Community.

The winners of this year's competition were selected by a panel of judges comprised of representatives from our school and business community. Members of the judging panel included teachers, Mrs. Kate Kowalski and Mr. Matt Gorski; school nurse, Mrs. Donna Hoscheit; parent, Mrs. Lisa O'Connell and alumna, Ms. Sarah Quirk.

The 2014-15 first place winner, Alisa Lerario, daughter of Joe and Juliana Lerario of Addison, was awarded a $50 check, and will have her original design framed and hung in the library. A copy of the design will also be placed in each item donated during the 2014-15 school year.

The second place winner is Jessica Bullock, daughter of Michael and Suzanne Bullock of West Chicago, received a $20.00 Barnes & Noble gift card. The third place winner and recipient of a $15.00 Barnes and Noble gift card is Jonah Sheehan, son of Brian and Jill Sheehan.

Mrs. Judi Rath, Librarian for St. Francis High School congratulates the winners and thanks everyone who participated.

Turnabout Dance Dress Guidelines

Turn-About Dance will be held on Saturday, February 7th. It's never too early to start shopping for those dresses. Be sure to check whether your daughter can sit, walk, and dance in the dress and that the dress is of an appropriate length and cut (see below guidelines). The dance is a lot more fun when the dress fits comfortably!

GUIDELINES: All dresses must be longer than the fingertips when (with shoulders relaxed) are placed at their sides. The dress may not be skin tight and may not "ride up" when moving around. If your daughter has to pull down her dress to meet this guideline, please chose another dress.  Dresses should not be low cut and should cover midsections. Students not wearing a proper dress will be escorted to a classroom in order to call home and have proper clothing brought to them. They will wait in this classroom until proper clothing arrives or 9:30 p.m. (dance officially ends at 10 p.m., but students can leave at 9:30) whichever comes first. Additionally, shoes must be worn at all times during the dance. She may bring a second pair of more comfortable shoes to change into after pictures.
