Host Family Opportunity:

Open your home and
your heart!

St. Francis High School is once again looking for families interested in hosting an international student in their home for a 10 month home stay beginning in August of the upcoming 2014 -2015 school year. This is a great opportunity for your family to connect with hardworking students and to help them achieve their dreams of a top tier education at St. Francis High School.

Host families are expected to provide a warm, secure and healthy home environment as well as a bedroom for the student. Host families should be enthusiastic about cultural diversity, willing to welcome international guests with an open mind and support their student in academic and co-curricular activities. Host families may be eligible to receive up to a $1,000/month stipend to help cover the costs of room and board.

If you would like to take advantage of this unique opportunity, please contact Matt Abernathy, Director of the International Student Program, at

Band, Choir, and Theatre students Perform at Disney World in Orlando, Florida

During the February 2014 President's Weekend, 121 St. Francis High School Band, Choir, and Theatre students and 10 faculty chaperones traveled to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. All students participated in a Disney Performing Arts Workshop with Professional Disney Cast members learning first-hand what it is like to be a professional musician or actor. The St. Francis Music Ensemble and the St. Francis Choir performed on the Waterside Stage in Downtown Disney, and the St. Francis Marching Band marched down Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom. The St. Francis Performing Arts program traditionally takes this trip every other year.

Blood Drive
February 25, 2014

Our annual All-school Blood Drive will be Tuesday, February 25. Giving blood is a contribution to the entire community; it's the right thing to do!  At this time of year, donations are typically down due to the cold and flu season. Therefore, we are asking parents and friends of St. Francis High School to please consider donating. Your donation could save a life. Contact Mike Lynch or 630-668-5800 ext.1193 if you wish to schedule an appointment; drop-ins welcome too.

Parents, please consider encouraging your child to donate.

A few facts:

  • 1 unit of blood can help 3 people
  • Only 5% of eligible people donate
  • Every 3 seconds someone needs blood

If your child will be donating they need to:

  • Be 16 years or older.
  • Have a permission slip signed in black ink by a parent.
  • Weigh at least 110 pounds.
  • Eat a big breakfast the morning of the drive.
  • Bring a photo ID.
  • Sign up with Mr. Lynch in Room 1107.

Please contact me at if you have any questions or click here for a link to the Heartland Blood Bank center.

Freshman Students and Parents
On February 27, all freshmen will be going to the computer lab to use the Multiple Intelligences Advantage Inventory which is part of the Naviance Family Connection College and Career Planning Program.  In order to log into this program, each freshman student must have his/her own personal email address which will be the user name.  The student cannot use a parent or sibling's email address.  Therefore, a freshman student who does not already have a personal email account must establish one before this date.  We appreciate your assistance in this matter so students do not miss out on this learning opportunity and future use of the Naviance program.
