Sponsored by the American Council for International Studies, a travel company dedicated to arranging rich and interactive experiences for students, St. Francis aims to engage students in France's traditions. Students will enjoy the various customs of northern and southern France as they travel to Paris, Aix-en-Provence and Nice. Additionally, students will take part in unique opportunities to truly connect with France's culture. Activities include: guided tours, a boat ride along the Seine, a pastry class at a boulangerie, sketching in Montmartre, and more.

Date of departure: June 1st, 2016

Group leaders: Sue Harsa and Maria Klingele

For more information, contact Sue at Sueharsa@icloud.com or Maria at mklingele@sfhscollegeprep.org. There will be a student/parent meeting on Wednesday, March 11th to discuss the details of the trip.

Blood Drive
February 26th 2015

Our annual all school blood drive will be Thursday, February 26th. Giving blood is a contribution to the entire community; it's the right thing to do. At this time of year donations are typically down due to the cold and flu season. Therefore, we are asking parents and friends of St. Francis to please consider donating. Your donation could save a life. Contact Mike Lynch mlynch@sfhscollegeprep.org or 630-668-5800 ext.1193 if you wish to schedule an appointment; drop-ins welcome too.

Parents, please consider encouraging your student to donate.

A few facts:

  • 1 unit of blood can help 3 people
  • Only 5% of eligible people donate
  • Every 3 seconds someone needs blood

If your student will be donating they need to:

  • Be 16 years or older.
  • Have a permission slip signed in ink by a parent.
  • Weigh at least 110 pounds.
  • Eat a big breakfast the morning of the drive.
  • Bring a photo ID.
  • Sign up with Mr. Lynch in Room 1107.

Please contact me at dhoscheit@sfhscollegeprep.org if you have any questions or click here for a link to the Life Source Blood Donation Center.

NEW Meningococcal Vaccine Requirements
Start with School Year 2015-16!

The new law will require 2 doses of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine for 12th grade entrance, unless the first dose was administered to a child who was 16 years of age or older, in which case only one dose would be required at 12th grade entrance.

If your student (class of 2016 only) has not had a meningococcal vaccine since at age 16 or later they will need to show proof of having received a meningococcal vaccine upon return to school next August. We will be sending notification to you in the mail regarding your student's status.
