Note from the
Welcome to another school year!
Tomorrow night we are hosting two great events, the Welcome Back to School Event for all SFHS students from 5:30-8:00
pm and the Freshman Parent Social from 6:00-8:00 pm.
The first "Welcome Back to School Event" is this Friday, August 22 on the game field. The gate will open at
5:30 pm and all students need to arrive by 6:00 pm. Admission is $5, and you must bring your SFHS ID.
Reminder: Outta Uniform Dress Code applies.
This year's event will include a DJ, bags games, karaoke and food! A "Spartan Special" for $5 will be
available in the concession stand. The "Spartan Special" is Pizza or Chick Fil-A sandwich, chips, and a drink!

Freshman Success Group
Offered again during first semester!

As in previous years, the
short term Freshman Success Group will be offered during the first semester. Starting at a new school
can be a difficult
time in a young person'
s life. The excitement of
"starting new" is mixed with the sadness of leaving familiar territory. Students may be wondering: "What will it be
I be accepted? Will I be successful? What study skills & test taking skills do I need." Fears of change can be
overwhelming for some young people. However, with encouragement, this transition can be a positive new start.
For all of the above reasons, the Guidance &
Counseling Department will again offer the optional six-week group for freshman. This group meets once a week during rotating
periods. The group, run by counselors Mrs. Rupp and Ms. Sullivan, will offer freshmen the opportunity to meet new people, to
learn more about St. Francis and ask questions in a small, non-threatening environment. The second component to the freshman group
is to help students work on study skills and test taking techniques.

On Sunday, September 14, the National Eating Disorders Association is hosting a
fundraising walk in Chicago. Earn service hours by being a student volunteer at the event! Transportation is provided, and

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) will open for student use on Thursday, August 21,

Opportunity to pay for entire year
Friday, August 29 will be our first "Outta Uniform Day" of the 2014-15
school year. The cost for students to participate is $3.00 for each of the 10 Outta Uniform Days. However, in an effort to
make life easier,
