Attention Parents of Senior Students (class of 2016)
NEW Meningococcal Vaccine Requirements for the start of this School Year 2015-16!
In May you received a letter from St. Francis (click here to view letter) informing you of the required meningococcal vaccination of your senior student. In addition, there have been numerous reminders in the e-news during the previous school year regarding this new mandate by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
If you have not had your senior student vaccinated please do as soon as possible and forward that document to us. The documentation from your student's healthcare provider or receipt from the pharmacy where it was administered can be faxed, emailed or dropped off at my office by your child.
Most local pharmacies carry this vaccine and it can be administered on site. The DuPage County Health Department (639-682-7400) will administer the vaccine for a nominal fee if you do not have vaccine insurance coverage; however an appointment is required.
St. Francis will not allow your student to attend school if these requirements are not met by October 15, 2015.

Short Term Freshman Success Group offered again during first semester! Sign Up Now!
Starting at a new school can be a difficult time in a young person's life. The excitement of "starting new" is mixed with the sadness of leaving familiar territory. Students may be wondering: "What will it be like? Will I be accepted? Will I be successful? What study skills & test taking skills do I need?" Fears of change can be overwhelming for some young people. However, with encouragement, this transition can be a positive new start.

For all of the above reasons, the Guidance & Counseling Department will again offer the optional six-week group for freshman. This group meets once a week during rotating class periods. The group will offer freshmen the opportunity to meet new people, to learn more about St. Francis and ask questions in a small, non-threatening environment. The second component to the freshman group is to help students work on study skills and test taking techniques. Students will also learn how to best use the Surface Pro tablet for organization, note taking & being successful in HS!

Group size is limited and registration is required.

Contact Info: If you would like more information on this group or on any of the other support groups available at St. Francis High School, contact Mrs. Rupp at ext 1104 or email at

Registration Deadline is August 30!

Sign-Up & Planning Meeting is Tuesday, August, 25!
Any student interested in joining the Arts & Crafts Club, needs to attend the Planning/Info Meeting on Tuesday 8/25 or see Mrs. Rupp before the meeting. During this meeting students will decide on this year's activities and sign up for the club. To increase the creative "thinking processes", lots of homemade treats and cookies will await students at the meeting. Throughout the year, the Arts & Crafts Club will meet every other Monday from 2.35 to 3.30 pm with different kinds of activities such as jewelry making, pottery, Tie-Dye, glass painting and lots more. In addition to the bi-weekly meetings, club members will also have the opportunity to attend several field trips to art galleries, museums and hands-on places. The Planning Meeting is Tuesday 8/25 in the Cafeteria. For more information, please email Mrs. Rupp at

Uniform Resale
The Uniform Resale was a huge success! The Parents' Organization would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone who helped, donated, and supported the Uniform Resale. We sold over $2000 at the resale during Orientation and 411 Night. When you add in the $3500 from the June book resale, we gave over $5500 to the Scholarship fund! We are also donating 4 large bags of uniforms to another St. Francis High School in Chicago, so even our excess uniforms will be put to good use. Our next resale will be during Parent/Teacher Conferences in November. You can keep donating uniforms throughout the year. The donation bin is located in the Atrium. Thank you again for all of your support!
