Dorothy A. Dwyer, nee Smith, a long-time Wheaton resident, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2014 at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton. She was 79. She was born on September 1, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois where she spent her early years. She and her late husband, John R. Dwyer, moved to Wheaton in 1955, where they lived and raised their three children. She was a member of St. Michael Church in Wheaton and participated in many community and charitable activities. She enjoyed many glorious summers with her family at her home on White Lake in Montello, Wisconsin and, prior to becoming a resident in DuPage Convalescent Center in 2008, she lived for several years in Winfield and Batavia, Illinois. Her husband, John (Jack), pre-deceased her in 1994. She is survived by her children, James (Sally), Nancy Beck (Joseph '77) and Ann; her grandchildren, Michael, John, Anne '06, Matthew '09, Maggie '11, Daniel, Kate '17, Grace, Jack, Robert, Tim, Samantha and Jessica; her great-grandchildren, Zoe, Eli and Cora; and her nieces and nephews, Ted, Margaret, Daniel and Corinne. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. A prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:00 am at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton (1 block east of Naperville Road) and will proceed to St. Michael Church, 310 S. Wheaton Ave., Wheaton for a mass at 10:00 am.
